Return to School Information, September 2022

Back
August 31st 2022

After a fabulous and busy Term 6 at Kingdown full of examinations, learning and activities which ended with our wonderful Summer concert and Matilda production, as well as a fantastic sports day and numerous trips, we are looking forward to welcoming back all our students in September for a brilliant year ahead. Our team have been in for A level and GCSE results days in the past few weeks and our students have been delighted with what they have achieved, as are we.

A huge warm welcome goes to our new students in Year 7 and 12 but also to the students who have heard through word of mouth what a great school we are and have joined us in Years 8, 9 and 10. We are oversubscribed in some year groups now and have waiting lists which is testament to the positivity from students, families and staff about our school. We also welcome some great new teachers and support staff this year to join our Kingdown community.

Staff Training Days

Staff only return for training days on Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd September.

Monday 5th September

We welcome Year 7 and Year 12 students on Monday 5th September at 8.25am.

New Year 7 students should enter through the Green Gates in the Sports Hall car park on Monday 5th and new Year 12 should report to the 6th Form Centre.

Staff will be there to direct and welcome them.

Tuesday 6th September

Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 return on Tuesday 6th September at 8.25am.

Uniform

Please ensure your child is smartly dressed by being in full school uniform for their return – see our school website for details.

Equipped

We expect all students to be fully equipped with a school bag, a pen, a pencil and ruler as the basics for all. They should have a scientific calculator for maths.

Please ensure your child is equipped every day so they can learn effectively. If you need financial support for equipment or uniform,  please contact your child’s Head of House.

Attendance for the year ahead

We would also like to challenge you to help your child be part of a 100% attendance challenge this term and in subsequent terms. We will be awarding prizes for attendance and also revealing new, exciting rewards initiatives in line with our successful changes to the Behaviour Hub.

We look forward to welcoming all our students back and engaging with our families through the year.

Yours sincerely
