Music Tuition

Kingdown School has a vibrant Music department with an ever increasing number of students taking private tuition provided by the Acorn Education Trust.

For all enquiries regarding Music Tuition at Kingdown, please contact Mr Barnes, Media & Events Technician via email: pab@kingdown.wilts.sch.uk

The benefits of music

Playing a musical instrument has many benefits including enhanced co-ordination, increased memory capacity, sharpened concentration and it creates a real sense of achievement.

We offer individual tuition on a variety of instruments including guitar, bass, piano, drums, ukulele, flute, clarinet, saxophone and also singing.

There are currently five visiting teachers and you can find out more about them by scrolling to the bottom of this page. Our teachers are qualified, highly experienced and also work in other local schools as well as teaching privately at home. Students are taught key skills on their chosen instrument and many work towards nationally accredited qualifications with ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall and Rock School.

We pride ourselves on our communication with parents. We will always ensure you are kept informed, whether this is an amendment to a timetable or to inform you that your child has missed a lesson. In addition, we create a formal report once a year on your child’s progress.

Please find below a list of links to pages with further information for you to browse at your convenience.

We look forward to your child starting lessons with us in the near future.

Timetables & Accessing Lessons

The most up to date timetables are available outside C3, and also available below.

In order to access lessons, students should now report directly to the relevant teaching room indicated on their timetables (see below) – this will either be C5, C7 or C11. Students will be expected to arrive as punctually as possible.

Where possible and relevant, we would like students to continue to bring their own instruments to lessons if they can. We are aware that this may present difficulties for some students, and if you feel this may be a barrier to your child accessing music tuition lessons, please do contact us.

**Term 4 2023-34 Update**

If your child had lessons with Miss Miller on Guitar or Ukulele in Term 3, Mr Treasure has taken on their tuition for Term 4 onwards. If your child had singing lessons with Miss Miller, further details will be provided shortly.
