The first ever whole school ‘Register and Read’ was launched in tutor time this morning. Every week, every tutor in the school will be reading aloud to their tutor group, starting with ‘Scavengers’ by Darren Simpson.
The author kindly sent us a video message to explain a little bit about the story:
Kingdown is a reading school and this is a fantastic way to share a brilliant story and bring the school community together to enjoy reading. Register and Read will happen every Monday tutor time, and we are aiming to get through at least three books this year!
Reading is a crucial and important skill to help boost children’s attainment. Education research consistently tells us that children who read for pleasure have an increased chance of achieving and succeeding in school.
