Kingdown School organised a trip to Nepal and Everest Base Camp.
Between December 19th 2014 and January 4th 2015, 18 Students and 4 members of staff flew to Kathmandu and then Lukla to begin the climb to Kalla Pattar at 5,545m (18,192 ft) They walked 100 miles, climbed 2,960m (9,700 feet); walking for approximately 70 hours in 13 days.
This trip as well as an extreme physical challenge provided students with an opportunity to experience the varied culture and lifestyle of Nepalese people. The students were sponsored by RACs, a local company. The students in return for the sponsorship helped raise money for Dorothy House, childrens hospice southwest and Louie’s S.M.I.L.E.S Charities.
The group also raised over £3,000 in response to Nepalese earthquake in 2016.
