When we first introduced the House system to Kingdown in 2007 the school had considerably fewer students on roll. Over the years we have increased in student numbers and we have therefore decided to introduce a sixth House from September 2017. This will ensure that we continue to offer our students the very best pastoral care and support. Students and tutors were given the option to move and many tutor groups decided they would like take the opportunity to be involved in establishing a new House.

The one disadvantage of an additional House is that some siblings will be in different Houses for a few years and while this is a concern, we will ensure all families are well supported. The house will be led by Miss Cridland and will be red in colour. The students moving into the House were given the opportunity to vote for a House name and the results were overwhelmingly in favour of Silverstone House. All students moving into Silverstone House will be issued with a new House tie.

I hope you see this is as a positive move in terms of our pastoral care, but should you have any concerns of questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s tutor, Head of House or myself.

Miss Ronxin,
Deputy Head, Pastoral
