Kingdown to welcome visitor from the Holocaust Educational Trust
On Thursday 8th March, all Year 9 students will receive a visit from Holocaust survivor, Henry Schachter, as part of a visit organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET).
His testimony will be followed by a question and answer session to enable students to better understand the nature of the Holocaust and to explore its lessons in more depth. The visit is part of the Holocaust Educational Trust’s extensive all year round Outreach Programme, which is available to schools across the UK. The visit will also link to studies in PSHE, as well as History, RS, and learning during the year-long tutor theme programme. The visit also follows Holocaust Memorial Day, which took place at the end of January.
It is a privilege for us to welcome Henry to our school and his testimony will remain a powerful reminder of the horrors so many experienced. We are grateful to the Holocaust Educational Trust for co-ordinating the visit and we hope that by hearing Henry’s testimony, it will encourage our students to learn from the lessons of the Holocaust and make a positive difference in their own lives.
The visit will take place during Lessons 3 and 4 on the day. We encourage students to have a think about any questions they may wish to ask, during this valuable and powerful visit.
