It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Duke of Edinburgh’s Award coordinator at Kingdown School. Having recently joined the school as a science teacher, I am looking forward to contributing to the wider school community.

Throughout my teaching career, I have been heavily involved in the organisation and delivery of outdoor education, overseas expeditions, combined cadet force and the DofE Award scheme. I find it incredibly rewarding to work with students in the challenging setting of the outdoors, where they build skills such as resilience, leadership and self-discipline, and I hope to pass on some of my passion for the outdoors.

Kingdown School has a strong history of delivering the DofE Award and I have every confidence that we will go from strength to strength. We will put together an in-depth programme for the forthcoming year catering for our Bronze, Silver and Gold participants.

Our plan is to run the Bronze assessed expedition before the October half term. I will contact DofE participants and their parents by email when a definite date for this has been confirmed.
