Kingdown School reached the South West Badminton Finals this year for the first time with their KS3 boys team.

They had a tough draw in a pool of three teams that included Cotham School from Avon and Bournemouth Boys from Dorset.  Although they lost 5-0 to Cotham (who went on to narrowly lose in the playoff final) they showed real spirit and fought hard in their games.

There was not much between Kingdown and Bournemouth Boys in playing standard.  Despite losing 4-1 with some close games, it was not until the last doubles that they got a result.  They went on to play Katharine Lady Berkeleyís School from Gloucestershire in the playoff for fifth place which turned out to be a really close match against two evenly matched teams.

Kingdown lost both singles, although one of these was by only one point, but won all three doubles to take 5th place by 3-2.

The team of Alex Geddes, George Smith, Jamie Seviour, Josh Haine and Liam Tye were delighted with their first trip to play at the University of Exeter and hope to be back again next year.

Congratulations and well done
