We are very proud of the assessment system we have developed at Kingdown. It is based on the principle of ‘Trajectories’; assessments link together to provide forward-estimates of potential GCSE performance.
The grades are referred to as T-grades – you will hear your son or daughter referring to these grades on a regular basis. The grades report the final grade a teacher expects the student to be able to achieve by the end of Year 11, given current rates of progress and the student’s attitude to learning.
Assessments may include in-class tests, tasks or activities completed at home. We also hold a formal Exam Week for each year group, which takes place early in Term 6.
Year 9 students also receive examinations in English, Maths and Science at the end of Term 2.
T-grades allow you to track your child’s future potential as they progress through Key Stage 3, and will help you and your son / daughter to make informed choices during the Year 8 and 9 options processes.
This also allows students to know if their approach and attitude to learning is letting them reach their full potential.
