Please note, the letter below is intended for all Acorn Education Trust (external link) schools. Kingdown School had already set the last day of term to be Friday 17th July, 2020.
Dear parents, carers
I hope you, your family and friends are well.
It has been lovely to see some children/students return to school and I hope from your perspective it is going well. All our primary school children will have the opportunity to return to their school for some lessons before the end of term. Home learning or a blend of school and home learning continues for the vast majority and each Headteacher will ensure that every child/student has a face to face meeting (in school or remotely) with their teacher, tutor or Head of House before the summer holiday begins.
In order to prepare for September and give all staff across the Trust a genuine break, we have decided all schools will finish term 6 on Friday July 17th 2020. This is in line with Kingdown School’s calendar and a couple of days earlier for all the other schools.
As far as September is concerned, I am sure we were all pleased to hear the Secretary of State for Education announce last week that all schools will be open to all pupils in September. What exactly this return to school will look like we do not really know but the prospect of a return to some kind of normality is very welcome.
We have been promised guidance from the DfE “over the next few weeks” and this will be key to our planning. We will be in touch with you when we know more about how the next year will begin.
In the meantime, please take care and do get in touch if you have any concerns.
Very best wishes
Acorn Education Trust
