KS5 Curriculum

The curriculum at Key Stage 5 further builds on the knowledge and skills developed across Key Stages 3 and 4, with students able to fully select the main components of their curriculum.

The key aim of our Key Stage 5 curriculum  is to successfully facilitate students’ progression onto their chosen pathway post-18, whether that is going to university, getting an apprenticeship or moving into the job market.

In Sixth Form, students have significant flexibility and can study 3 or 4 subjects of their choice.

We offer a wide range of academic and vocational subjects, taught by subject specialists which inspire, challenge and support all of our students.

Advice and Guidance

Expert advice and guidance is available from both the Sixth Form team and our full time careers specialist to ensure students can maximise their outcomes by choosing the right course for them, whilst ensuring that the courses will provide the best progression route towards their chosen post-18 destinations.

More information about the subjects on offer and their specific content can be found in the Sixth Form prospectus.

Wider Development

The development of broader life and employability skills, such as numeracy, literacy, resilience and independent learning, continues to be a focus throughout Key Stage 5, delivered primarily through our weekly and innovative Professional Tutor programme, and through fortnightly year group forum sessions.

Students also take part in an active community service project; examples of activities include peer mentoring, paired maths development, reluctant readers, in-class support and sports leadership.

Extra-curricular activities and societies such as sports, well-being, the model United Nations and the Sixth Form newsletter team also provide students with a wealth of opportunities to express themselves, engage with something they are passionate about, develop new skills and have fun.
