Kingdown School is very pleased to be able to offer The Duke of Edinburgh Award to students. 

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities, designed to support the personal and social development of our students.

It offers an individual challenge and encourages young people to undertake exciting, constructive, challenging and enjoyable things in their free time.

The Award is widely recognised by employers and is a superb addition to your CV.

We offer all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award...these are:

• Bronze – suitable for Year 9 students
• Silver – suitable for Year 10 students
• Gold – suitable for Year 12 students

The most widely known element of the Duke of Edinburgh Award is the expedition section. This requires students to safely navigate and be completely self-sufficient for two days at Bronze Award, three days at Silver Award and for four days at Gold Award.

In addition to the expedition section, students also need to complete volunteering, physical, skills and residential (Silver and Gold only) sections.
